Ts. Noor Azmi Mat Said
Ts. Noor Azmi Mat Said has more than 30 years of work experience in both the public and private sectors in Malaysia. He possesses knowledge and connections within the orange economy, MSMEs, tech startups, and commercialization especially in digitalization, food security, green technology and ESG compliance.
He previously served as the Non-Executive Chairman of MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd, a business entity owned by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia that provides financial assistance in the form of debt, equity, and grants for the orange economy (creative economy). Before his appointment to MyCreative Ventures, he was the Chief Executive Officer of SME Corporation Malaysia, a government Central Coordinating Agency responsible for MSME development in Malaysia.
In 2020, he departed from SME Corporation Malaysia after playing a key role in advancing the digitalization of MSMEs in the country. He also contributed to the promotion and establishment of MyCreative Ventures to boost Malaysia’s orange economy and the creation of VentureTECH (previously known as A-Bio Sdn Bhd), a government-owned venture capital firm initially founded to stimulate “bumiputra” economic activity in the biotech sector.
His areas of expertise include industry and regional development, developmental financing frameworks, turnaround and restructuring strategies, technology management (including commercialization and startup ecosystems), entrepreneurship development, and ESG.
He has worked for various well-known organizations such as British Petroleum (BP), ESSO Malaysia Berhad (now EXXON Mobil), and Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Malaysia (MTDC). He also served as a Subject Matter Expert for the Malaysian Industry Government for High-Technology (MIGHT), a government think- tank under the patronage of the Prime Minister; Technology Depository Agency, a government entity focused on “countertrade” matters under the Ministry of Finance; VentureTECH (formerly known as A-Bio), a technology investment entity under MIGHT, Prime Minister’s Department; and MYBIOMASS, a joint venture business between FGV-SIME Darby-VentureTECH.
He currently serves as the Chairman of FRIM Incorporated Sdn Bhd, the commercialization arm of the Forest Research Institute Malaysia under the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Malaysia.
